Why does my mouse cursor jump randomly all over the screen?
Many computers automatically search for the presence of a mouse on serial ports, especially COM1. It is possible that your computer may have mistakenly detected a connected GPS device as a mouse. To resolve this problem you will need to right click and disable the external serial mouse in your device manager. For Windows 2000 the hardware manageris locatedunderSettings->ControlPanel->System->Hardware->Device Manager

Why does the CDMA take much longer than other scanners to initialize?
The internal GPS on the CDMA scanner must lock before the scanner can initialize. Under normal conditions the CDMA scanner should initialize in less than 2 minutes.

The scanner seems to not respond or the scanner status always says "device timeout".
If you have verified that the power light is lit on the scanner and that the scanner is properly connected to the COM port then you may need to hard boot the scanner. Follow these steps:

1. Exit WirelessPro

2. Disconnect the power cable from the scanner

3. Reconnect the power cable to the scanner

4. Wait for the light on the scanner to turn green 5. Restart WirelessPro and connect.

How do I figure out the comport number for "USB box" ports?
The COM port assignments for the USB box are located under "Ports" in the device manager. For Windows 2000 the device manageris locatedunderSettings->ControlPanel->System->Hardware->Device Manager. The COM number is given for each USB serial device listed. To determine which port on the USB box is assigned to a particular COM, right click the COM port of interest and select properties. The "location" parameter will tell you the corresponding USB port number. Note: These settings will typically remain unchanged for a particular USB box.

How do I combine log files for Data Analysis and Data Export?
To combine files use the "Shift" or "Ctrl" key to select multiple files in the File Open Dialog. Note: Only log files that have the same configuration can be combined during Data Analysis and Data Export.

What is the maximum recommended log file size when collecting data in WirelessPro?
WirelessPro doesn't set a log file size limit. The size of a log file is only limited by free hard disk space and physical RAM. For a computer configuration with 128 Meg RAM we recommend limiting the drive test to 2 hours.

If my computer runs out of battery or crashes during a log file collection is all the data lost?
No, nearly all of the data will be captured in the log file. Only the last few seconds may be missing.

How many log files can be exported simultaneously?
WirelessPro doesn't set a limit for number of log files to be exported simultaneously. It is only limited by the amount available RAM. For a system with 256 Meg of RAM, we recommend no more than ten 15 Megabyte log files at a time.

For AutoCall, what is the recommended minimum idle time for CDMA, IS-136, GSM, IDEN handsets?
15 seconds.

Please define the fields in the AutoCall configuration.
The following is an explanation of all the fields in AutoCall:

Dial Number: The phone number to be called by the mobile.

The Select Parameter allows the user to select pre-defined configurations.

Min Idle: The minimum amount of time the device must be idle before attempting a new call.

Max Setup: The maximum length of time that the device will wait for a call to be connected once a call attempt is initiated. A call setup failure event will occur if this time expires.

Connect: The maximum length of time that the device will be in conversation mode.

If "Adv. Setup" is pressed, three additional fields appear:

Cycle Time: The absolute amount of time between call cycles, or the absolute amount of time from the start of one call to the start of the next. This will always ensure that a call is placed every n "Cycle Time" seconds. Note: The software may end the call before "Connect" seconds expires to ensure minimum "idle time" before the next call cycle.

# Cycles: The number of connection attempts to be made. A value of zero (0) indicates that an infinite number of attempts are to be made.

CallSynchOn: This feature requires that all the phones with "CallSynchOn" to start their call attempts at the same time. This also ensures that the number of call attempts is the same on all phones with "CallSynchOn". Using this parameter may extend the user defined "Cycle Time."

Will the Edgeport USB serial box work on Windows NT?
Yes, the Edgeport USB serial box uses a custom NT USB driver. Most other USB devices do not work with Windows NT.

How is the dominant pilot determined?
The dominant pilot is the strongest pilot in the active neighbor set.

How is the aggregate Ec/Io parameter calculated?
The aggregate Ec/Io is the linear sum of the first three fingers' Ec/Io.

Is the FER parameter for a CDMA phone a cumulative value or an instantaneous value?
FER is the frame error rate measured over 500 ms. The FER_CUM parameter is measured over 2000 ms.

How can I export the call event counts?
When exporting, add the "CALL EVENT" option to a report output. The call event counts will be tabulated and placed in an excel spreadsheet.

How do I know if WirelessPro is logging to file?
The "disk" icon will be green when WirelessPro is logging; otherwise, it is red.

How do I change the event symbols in the Map window?
The event symbols in the map can be changedunder Options->Colors andSymbols->Event Symbols.

How do I change the color and ranges for the variables plotted in the Map window?
The color and corresponding range for each variables can be changed underOptions->Colors and Symbols.

Can I specify the parameters to be logged to file?
No. Currently all the parameters will be logged to file.
