Imagine cooking the perfect dinner by doing nothing more than swiping a barcode. Interacting with your baby in his crib from your office or on the go. Having live customer-service assistance through your camera phone when assembling the new treadmill. Or finding the perfect dream home, in the perfect neighborhood, using only your wireless phone. These scenarios, once thought only possible in The Jetsons cartoon, will come alive in the CTIA Wireless Home at CTIA WIRELESS 2005, the world's largest wireless trade show. CTIA-The Wireless Association(TM) announces the construction of a 7,000 sq ft model home, bringing wireless technology to life in a way that will allow visitors to interact with and experience wireless home networking at its fullest potential.
"This is a truly unprecedented exhibit - one that illustrates the fact that wireless technology is so much more than simply an alternative to wireline service, it is a part of people's lives," said Steve Largent, President & CEO of CTIA. "While visitors to the CTIA Wireless Home will experience the most cutting edge technology from the industry - from HDTV over WiMax to smart appliances to Hummers outfitted with wireless - it is important to remember we're just beginning to realize the potential wireless has to improve every aspect of our lives."
The more than 60 products featured in the Wireless Home will illustrate how existing wireless solutions can monitor medications or instantly order products online, prevent breakdowns in vehicles or guide drivers with GPS maps, control the kitchen appliances or even keep a watchful eye on the family home. Visitors will get a first glimpse at a truly wireless lifestyle.
The 7,000 sq ft Wireless Home will be featured only at CTIA WIRELESS 2005, the world's largest wireless trade show, measuring more than 15 1/2 football fields in length of exhibit space. This year, the show will take place at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 14-16.
